Award-wining, Peruvian-fusion restaurant, La Mar by Gastón Acurio located at Mandarin Oriental, Miami has debuted a new bar and lounge concept, YAKU by La Mar. Conceptualized and designed by executive Chef Diego Oka, the lounge is outfitted with Peruvian-inspired textiles, teak wood furniture, bronze, terracotta and turquoise accent pieces, and sleek wooden high top tables. It features a blend of multicultural ingredients with a Peruvian-inspired cocktail program, light bites and a cozy waterfront setting where guests can unwind to musical sets by resident and guest DJs.
The beverage menu features three hand-crafted cocktails to complement La Mar’s existing cocktail program along with a selection of twelve beers, wines and champagne by the glass. Priced at $12, noteworthy punch cocktails from Peruvian favorites include a Pisco Sour Punch, to a buzzy Vodka Punch and fruity Rum Punch.
Light fare includes a selection of eight Peruvian small plates overseen by Executive Chef Diego Oka; featured dishes include Cebiche Tostado with tuna tartare, crispy onions, chipotle aioli, avocado; KFC Pop Corn with Korean fried chicken with Peruvian Chilies, gochujang, sesame, scallions; Los Choritos with mussels in their juice with caucau flavors, toasted bread and crostini; and Yuccas Estrelladas with hash yuccas, queso fresco, garlic and egg, all individually priced at $8.
YAKU, which means “water” in Quechua, an ancestral language dating back to the Inca Empire, is open Thursday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m
